International Institute of Noise Control Engineering

The International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE) was founded in 1974. It is a worldwide consortium of organizations concerned with noise control, acoustics and vibration. The primary focus of the Institute is on unwanted sounds and on vibrations producing such sounds when transduced.

I-INCE is the only organization that has a worldwide coverage of the issue of noise control technology. It has the ability to identify global noise control issues, discuss them on a global scale and communicate its findings with nearly all nations in the world. In the present connected world this might be a unique position that brings opportunities but also responsibilities.

Société Française d'Acoustique
The Société Française d’Acoustique (French Acoustics Society) is an association founded in 1948 by the famous French physicist Yves Rocard, bringing together acousticians, French-speaking practitioners and academics. Its aim is to promote the circulation of scientific and technical information between the various players in the acoustics field, as well as contacts between research laboratories and industry. It currently has almost 1,000 individual members (researchers, teachers, engineers, musicians, audiologists, architects, etc.), as well as institutional members (industrial companies and laboratories specializing in acoustics).

Institutional partners

Le Mans Université
Founded in 1977, Le Mans University has about 10,000 students, 630 professors, as well as 3 faculties, 2 institutes of technology and a school of engineering. It also includes 15 research laboratories, 8 of which being associated with the CNRS. The disciplines taught include science and technology, literature, languages, humanities, law, economics and management. It has a pole of excellence in acoustics, with the Laboratoire d’Acoustique de l’Université du Mans (LAUM) which has about 170 members.
Université Gustave Eiffel
Université Gustave Eiffel is a research-based multidisciplinary university of national importance (17,000 students, 2,300 staff members), the first institution to bring together a research institute, a university, a school of architecture and three engineering schools, creating a wide range of expertise, in education and research. Research activities are organized along many subjects, among them, noise pollution, with a dedicated laboratory the Environmental Acoustics Research Unit (UMRAE, 35 members), shared with the Centre for Studies and Expertise on Risks, the Environment, Mobility and Urban Planning (Cerema).
Centre d'Information sur le Bruit

The Centre d’information sur le bruit (CidB) is a non-profit organization under the French law of 1901. Its main mission is to inform, raise awareness, document and train people in the field of noise environment protection. Created in 1978 on the initiative of the French Ministry for the Environment, the CidB is a key contact for the general public and for public and private bodies involved in noise management. The CidB is a place of resources and dissemination of information dedicated to promoting the quality of our noise environment. The CidB implements various types of actions aimed at all publics concerned by the quality of the sound environment: architects, contractors, industrialists, town halls, schools and private individuals.
